Requesting a PGR Mission in SETexas

Texas has the highest amount of soldiers that join the military than any other state.  Becaus of this we inturn have the highest number of soldiers Killed In Action (KIA) in the nation from the War on Terrorism.  It is over 11% of all the KIA in the country.  Of the Texas KIAs, approximately 24% are from the SE Texas area.  This results in our area attending more KIA services than most other areas of our state if not all of them.  Our area of SE Texas runs more KIA missions than many states do cross the country.  S.E. Texas PGR is kept very active honoring those who gave all.

Honoring our current KIAs, those who gave all, is the core mission of the PGR.

  • If there is a KIA on the calendar within the next TEN days then no other mission requests will be considered.
  • If there is another event on the calendar for the same day and a new request have to decline
  • If the new request is a KIA we will have to shift our resources to the KIA mission but try to handle both.

* ESCORTS:  Many people have seen us as we travel with our flags flying in a funeral procession or other event. The assumption is then made that we provide escorts for the family and/or soldiers. In fact WE DO NOT ESCORT ANYONE. An escort is provided by the Police. We provide a Rolling Tribute of Honor and Respect for the soldier and family while the police are escorting all of us!! We do work with the police and encourage their assistance to insure the safety of our riders and the family members in the procession. If police are NOT escorting the procession then to protect the safety of our riders we will not participate in the procession.

Holiday Celebrations in S.E.Texas & PGR participation
(please read through all of the following)

Our country has a rich tradition of celebrating Holidays with our families. There are a three national holidays that are the result of our USA Armed Forces efforts. Each has a rich history and is very important to our country and the freedoms that we have today. As we approach one of these holidays various organizations extend offers to the PGR to attend in many different fashions. We will consider all requests while at the same time try to balance them with our core mission of Honoring our KIAs and the desires of our members and our Ride Captains (RCs).

Memorial Day
During the month of May we have a third of the PGR RCs out of town during Memorial Day because of RFTW. Other RCs already have out of town plans for this extended weekend. There is also less members available for missions because of same reasons. This reduces our ability to plan any event other than our core mission.  At this time we have chosen to leave it to our members to pick the Memorial Day celebration that they and their family wish to attend. Any requests that we receive will be listed on our main web page BELOW the calendar in the "Look Ahead" section. No PGR mission will be organized for our members.

4th of July
Our countries birthday (July 4) is also a traditional family get together day that has resulted in few if any PGR members from wishing to attend a PGR event other than a KIA mission. Just as with Memorial day, we will list all July 4th celebrations that are sent to us, however we will not organize a official PGR mission to attend but rather leave it to our individual members to choose the celebration that they wish to attend with their family and friends.

Veterans Day
We have seen a desire by our members to attend an Official Veterans Day function.  We will be reviewing all requests for our official participation prior to any commitment. All requests should be in for consideration a minimum of 30 days prior to the event.

Other holidays will not consist of organized S.E. Texas PGR attendance or posting on our web site.

How to Request:
Please emailto us at your earliest opportunity with the following information (A minimum of 30 Days in advance for consideration):

  1. The request or official celebration notices of the event
  2. a web link to YOUR website with the details. This will be viewed by our members so it should contain all info: date, time, location, agenda, etc
  3. your contact information

    * footnotes
    • We do not list the activities of other organizations but rather the official celebrations open to the public that falls within our mission statement.
    • Only the events that are sponsored by the S.E.Texas PGR will be listed within the main calendar on our home page.
    • All events for the above holidays (Memorial day & 4th of July) will be listed in the "Look Ahead" section of our calendar page.
    • An "Open invitation" is an event that is open to the public and it has been decide by the SETexas PGR leadership that it falls within our mission statement but we will not be assigning a Ride Captain, setting up a staging location, supplying a Support Vehicle, Flag line, or other normal PGR Mission tasks. It will be posted in the "Open Invitation" section of our home page (CALENDAR page) and it will be linked to the originators web site.   All members are asked to decide for themselves whether to attend and if they choose to attend, they will arrive at the event location under the guidelines defined by the event originator.
